  I had this thought in the shower today: the speed that one can forgive is the yardstick for spiritual progress.   Forgiveness for those who have harmed you, (or even yourself, if you harmed yourself) is the cheat code to the game of life.  Why hold on to anger? Why allow it to age and harden until it becomes a smooth, polished and cherished resentment?  Forgive and then forgive and forgive again. As quickly as you can.  77 times if necessary. Especially the people who are closest to you.  It's relatively easy to forgive the person who cuts you off in traffic, you can think to yourself, "maybe they have a friend in the hospital" or something like that. A cognitive hack towards forgiveness. But often the people in your inner circle, when they hurt you, those wounds can be hard to forgive. Of course, this isn't a new idea.  It certainly isn't my idea.  The importance of forgiveness has been written about literally thousands of years ago. ...

 I wonder if tomorrow 8/8/2025 will be the begining of the market correction. I've positioned myself in case it does, minorly.  The idea is that the European markets will contract becausue of the tariffs going into effect today. So I've opened a small put position on the S&P 500.  Nothing huge, but it seems like the market is overbought. I'll report on how I did. 

 I was just watching severance and saw some incredible landscape in Season 2, Episode 8.  So I used my search engine of choice to research where they shot that episode.  Turns out it was Newfoundland.  I really want to go there now.  What an incredible landscape.  Maybe later this year I'll go there.

I think things are about to get interesting.  The combination of tariffs and incentives to bring American  manufacturing back to the United States should make for interesting times.  I wonder if that "Chinese Curse": "may you live in interseting times" is actually true, or if that is a mistranslation or a cultural trope that we invented. The markets seem to be cotton candy these days.  One rain storm and it might melt, but as is often said, the markets can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent. 

 I've been paying attention to the stock market a little bit.  Purely as an amateur.  I have been talking to friends and famiy about how it seems like we are due for a correction and it may have started on Friday. There is a lot of uncertainty in the US econmy right now, which seems to be bleeding into the world economy.  Here are the headlines, in case you are under are under a rock or in a media fast.  Tariffs Unemployment AI Global Conflicts We have been hitting all time highs for so long, that a healthy correction is a good thing.  There needs to be some cooling off. I'm not srue what is going to happen, I don't have a crystal ball, but it seems like it is a good time to unwind some long positions and if you are brave, to take some short positions.  Just putting this out there on the internet. I could be wrong. We'll see.
